Inland Sea Dune Bashing
After so long, at last im back wt a new entry...Inland Sea Dune Bashing
This trip was a continuity to the previous trip organised by Malaysian Association of Qatar (MAQ) which i missed two weeks before. Organised by my father in his Land Cruiser and led by uncle Issyam in his office's Nissan Pathfinder, the trip was joined by another four SUVs: a Ford Explorer, Kia Sorento, Toyota Prado and a Ssangyong Rexton. Out of all, only Dr.Yasir (Prado) was new with the dunes. We headed for Masaied around 8am and arrived slightly later then schedule as the sandstorm that morning really slowed us down on the road. After the briefing, everyone started deflating their tyres. The pressure of the tyre should be lowered in order to increase the surface of contact between the tyres and the sand, thus adds grip and friction. The amount of pressure required depends on the softness of the sand and it's humidity, which are mainly by the weather. In our case that morning, the sand was not that soft and wet so we lowered the pressure from 33.5 psi to 15.5 psi. After all were set, we headed for Inland Sea, which borders Qatar and Saudi Arabia. We stopped at inland sea and set up our food for lunch. We had nasi lemak, fried mee, sandwitches and crisps. Dr.Yasir brought out his barbeque set and prepared some Shish Tawouk which tasted really awesome (it's an arabic cuisine - chicken, pepper, salad, tomatoes all grilled and eaten with pita bread). SOme of us took a dip in the sea, while some just relaxed by the seaside. Before going home, we stopped at another spot to search for clams (kepah). In a nutshell, the trip was fantastic!!! Bravo to dr.azhar n uncle issyam for organising such a wonderful trip...
